Department of Chiropractic

About Us

In 1990, Macquarie University became the first University to formally conduct professional Chiropractic education when a Centre for Chiropractic was established within the School of Biological Sciences.

The Centre initially offered a postgraduate Chiropractic program to which was added a Bachelor's degree program. This Centre then became the Department of Chiropractic within the Faculty of Science.

Since then, we have incorporated both undergraduate Health and Chiropractic programs, and amended our name to the Department of Chiropractic to recognise our new teaching and research interests. We have maintained a Centre of Chiropractic within our department which is focused on both excellence in chiropractic teaching and developing research interests within our profession.

Head of DepartmenT

The Department is currently lead by Dr Sharyn Eaton. Dr Eaton's qualifications include a Master in Philosophy and PhD from Southampton, UK; and her chiropractic qualification of Doctor of Chiropractic from Sydney College of Chiropractic in Sydney, Australia. Dr Eaton has an interest in orthopedic and diagnostic sciences and makes time to continue practicing as a clinician between her teaching and research commitments.
