Why Study Chiropractic in Australia?
Macquarie University, located in Sydney Australia, offers students an opportunity to undertake internationally recognised Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in Chiropractic. As one of the few Universities world wide offering Chiropractic education up to PhD level, students can be assured of the highest standard of quality. With exceptional equipment and clinical facilities, internationally recognised staff and a student satisfaction rating second to none, choosing Macquarie is made simple.
Chiropractic Program Overview
Students wishing to gain registration as a chiropractor in Australia and New Zealand must complete a minimum 5 years of tertiary education at an accredited provider. Macquarie's program structure involves completion of the Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and completion of the Master of Chiropractic. Combined, these two degrees, taken over five years, are equivalent to the Doctor of Chiropractic offered at overseas institutions. Students undertake 12 months of clinical practice at one of our three Chiropractic Clinics prior to graduation.
Students wishing to practice in other countries such as the UK, Canada, Norway, Sweden, US or Asia will need to in most cases undertake additional theory and practical examinations to demonstrate proficiency in their knowledge of chiropractic.
Students with Completed Degrees
Students who hold a completed degree in a health science or related area may apply for the Master of Chiropractic Qualifying program. This program is tailored to each student and is based on the content of their previously completed studies. The program length can vary from 1-2 years. On completion of the Qualifying program, students are eligible to apply for and enter the Master of Chiropractic. Further details of this pathway are available in the postgraduate section of this website.
