Rod Bonello

Associate Professor Rod Bonello
BSc (Syd,) DO DC (SCC) MHA (NSW) FICC (USA)

Associate Professor Rod Bonello is currently the senior academic and founder of Chiropractic studies at Macquarie University. He graduated from Sydney University in 1979 with a Bachelor degree majoring in Anatomy. Concurrently he undertook professional training in Chiropractic and Osteopathy and graduated from the Sydney College of Chiropractic in 1981 with the Doctor of Chiropractic and Doctor of Osteopathy diplomas. He completed a Masters degree in Health Administration at the University of New South Wales in 1988, having written a thesis on the Chiropractic and Osteopathic Workforce in Australia and New Zealand. In 1990 he was awarded a Fellowship of the International College of Chiropractors, a learned society for chiropractic educators and administrators based in the United States of America.

His research interest is in ijury management, with a special interest in geriatric research. He has held several senior posts including Honorary Secretary of the Australian Spinal Research Foundation for 14 years. In addition he has served on a number of Government advisory bodies on Clinical Education, professional accreditation, on Registrations Boards and Health care complaints tribunals. He is highly sought after as a medicolegal consultant on workers compensation and medical negligence disputes. He is a founder of the Macquarie Injury Management group established at Macquarie University to conduct research and provide expert consultation on areas including OHS, workplace injury, sports injury, and evidence based clinical management.

Professor Bonello commenced his educational career as a tutor on graduation and has been teaching continuously for 25 years. He entered private practice on graduation and has maintained clinical work, albeit on a very part time basis.
