Wayne Hoskins
Mr Wayne Hoskins is currently in the final stages of his Doctor of Philosophy having investigated the prevention of hamstring and other lower limb injuries in semi-elite Australian Rules footballers through a randomized controlled trial. In addition he has maintained his clinical work as a chiropractor in private practice, has assisted at several state and national level sporting events and has previously tutored undergraduate students in biomechanics and chiropractic technique at Macquarie University.
Mr Hoskins commenced studying at Macquarie University in 1999 after receiving an Innovation Scholarship for Academic Merit for his secondary school studies. In 2001 he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Chiropractic Science with a 4.0 grade point average and the Vice Chancellor’s Academic Award for Undergraduate Study at Macquarie University. In 2003 he graduated with a Masters Degree in Chiropractic with a 3.8 grade point average and received the Chiropractic Student of the Year Award for his final year of study. In 2004 Mr Hoskins enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy program at Macquarie University.
Mr Hoskins’ research interests are clinically based with an emphasis on sports medicine, randomized controlled trials, epidemiological research and evidence based medicine. He has presented research results and literature at conferences such as the Australian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport, the New Zealand Sports Medicine and Science Conference, the South African Sports Medicine Association Congress, the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia’s Congress and the WFC’s and FCER’s International Conference on Chiropractic Research. His publications have been in a range of medline indexed sports medicine, physiotherapy and chiropractic journals. Mr Hoskins has recently been awarded funding from the Australian Spinal Research Foundation for a randomized controlled trial investigating athletic performance variables to be completed in 2006.
Mr Hoskins is a member of the American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM), Sports Medicine Australia (SMA), Sports Medicine New Zealand (SMNZ), Chiropractors Association of Australia (CAA), CAA Sports Chiropractic, International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS), Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australia (COCA) and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
