Aims and strengths of the program
Macquarie University’s postgraduate program in Ageing and Health provides students with a multidisciplinary approach to this issue of increasing social concern. The courses aim to give students both a sound theoretical and practical grounding in the area. Staff teaching in the Ageing and Health program are drawn from a number of disciplines, including Health Studies, Human Geography, Psychology, Law, Sociology and Anthropology.

Length of candidature
Study is part time basis only for the Postgraduate Certificate in Ageing & Health and Postgraduate Diploma in Ageing and Health
Study is either full time or part time for the Master of Ageing and Health
NOTE: Transfer between all three postgraduate programs is possible.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirement for the Postgraduate Program in Ageing and Health is a Bachelor degree in a health-related area of study, or, in special cases, other tertiary qualifications combined with relevant work experience.

Career opportunities
Macquarie’s postgraduate Ageing and Health program is designed to provide graduates with a flexible range of knowledge and skills relevant to a number of health-related occupations in government, business, the not-for-profit sector, education and research. Aged-care management and administration, healthcare and social planning, community development, market research, health policy and health promotion are all areas of possible employment
Further study
Students enrolled in the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Ageing and Health can, on application, transfer to the Master’s program in Ageing and Health. Meritorious students interested in continuing their studies beyond these coursework qualifications may be eligible to undertake a Masters by Research and/or PhD.
